    American improvised, syncopated music (with an additional accent in the pre-beat) was created by combining European musical tradition with African-American musical styles – blues and ragtime. The instruments most associated with jazz are the saxophone and trumpet. Trombone, piano, double bass, guitar and drums are also basic jazz instruments.
